Short version: we use only strictly necessary cookies — the ones that keep you signed in and the Service secure. We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies, so there is no consent banner to click through.

1What cookies are

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They let a site remember things between requests — for example, that you are signed in. Similar technologies (such as local storage) can serve the same purpose; where we refer to "cookies" we mean these technologies too.

2Our approach

DDcheck uses only strictly necessary cookies — those required to deliver the Service you have asked for, such as signing in, keeping your session active and protecting against abuse. We do not use cookies for analytics, performance measurement, personalisation, advertising or cross-site tracking, and we do not share cookie data with advertising networks. In particular, we do not load Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, advertising pixels or other third-party tracking scripts.

3The cookies we set

CookiePurposeType & duration
ddc_session Keeps you securely signed in after login. Strictly necessary — without it you cannot use your account. First-party, HttpOnly, Secure, SameSite=Lax. Expires after 24 hours.
ddc_demo Set only in the public demo, to count and limit free demo checks and prevent abuse. Strictly necessary for the demo. First-party, HttpOnly, Secure, SameSite=Lax. Expires after 12 months.

We do not set any other cookies. If this ever changes — for example, if we add an analytics or preference cookie — we will update this policy and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent first.

4Why we do not ask for consent

Under the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) and the guidance of the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), cookies that are strictly necessary to provide a service the user has requested are exempt from the consent requirement. Because we use only such cookies, we do not display a cookie-consent banner. Any non-essential cookie would be set only after obtaining your consent.

5How to control cookies

You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Because our cookies are strictly necessary, blocking them will stop you from signing in or using your account. Browser help pages explain how to manage cookies in Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge.

6Changes and contact

We may update this policy from time to time and will change the "Last updated" date above. For questions, contact privacy@ddcheck.uk. See also our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
